Dear Reader,
On 8 April 2026, the day commemorating the birth of the Buddha, we founded the Golden Meditation Institute.
Today, we are delighted to launch the official Golden Meditation blog and newsletter.
Here, we will share meditation, mindful living, upcoming events, and the philosophy that shapes everything we do.
As the beginning of this journey, we would first like to introduce the story of our founder, MASAYO.
Why did she create Golden Meditation? What experiences shaped her life, and what led her to the philosophy she shares today?
Over the next three chapters, we invite you to discover the story behind Golden Meditation.
Chapter 1 – The Beginning of MASAYO

The Story of MASAYO
Born in Fukuoka, Japan, in 1959, MASAYO is the founder of Golden Meditation, a KIDŌ Artist, calligrapher, and healer. For more than twenty-five years, she has guided over 10,000 people in Japan and abroad, bringing together meditation, beauty, culture, and everyday life into a practical path of inner transformation.
From the age of three, her grandmother took her to meditate at a Jodo Shinshu Buddhist temple dedicated to Amida Buddha. She was born into a family of fishermen near the region associated with Himiko, the legendary shaman-queen believed to have guided the formation of early Japan through KIDŌ, weaving together governance, diplomacy, commerce, and harmony with the natural world. A white serpent, revered as her family’s guardian spirit, was believed to dwell within their home and had been protected for generations. Surrounded by prayer, nature, and ancient traditions, she grew up regarding the visible and invisible worlds as inseparable parts of life. These experiences would later become the foundation of her philosophy and artistic vision.
After marrying in 1981, MASAYO welcomed her first son the following year, on her own birthday. Born with a rare unexplained illness, he died in a tragic accident in 1987, only two months after the birth of her eldest daughter.
Before his passing, she promised him that she would dedicate her life to easing the suffering of others. That promise became the defining turning point of her life.
A year later, determined to have another son, she became pregnant again. She gave birth to her second daughter, MICOMAI, whose arrival brought light into one of the darkest chapters of her life. Several years later, her youngest son completed the family. While raising three children and building a business, she quietly continued her lifelong spiritual practice.
During those years, MASAYO underwent extraordinary mystical experiences that transformed her understanding of life. She vividly perceived visions, voices, and profound intuitive experiences beyond ordinary perception, yet believed the time had not come to reveal them. Choosing silence, she devoted herself to her family and work, carrying these experiences alone. Their intensity eventually pushed both her mind and body to their limits, leading her through a long period of uncertainty and profound inner struggle.
Seeking answers, she turned to countless teachers and practitioners, yet none could fully explain what she was experiencing. Realising that the truth she sought could only be discovered within, she committed herself to years of meditation, breathwork, and unwavering self-enquiry. Through this deeply personal journey, she gradually regained her inner balance and rediscovered her authentic self. Those hard-earned experiences became the foundation upon whichGolden Meditation would later be built.
